MARCH 2008 NEWS

WRC UK supported the Million Women Rise march on March 8th by supplying free ribbons and badges for sale to raise money, and we had a stand at the entrance to the rally in Trafalgar Square. Many women came by to tell us that they supported our work.
NUS Reclaim the Night Manchester
WRC UK took part in the NUS Men’s reclaim the Night March which took part simultaneously with the Womens March in Manchester in pouring rain. I was early for the event and only found it by following some male students with placards heading for the event.- a very pleasing experience. There were some great “These Hands are not for Hurting Jackets” showing that the handprints works well not only on posters but also on clothing.
Meeting with White Ribbon Campaign China
When I went on holiday to China , I met briefly with the leader of the White Ribbon Campaign in China, Jacky of the Eastern Media Group, and I hope that we can develop some mutually supportive links.
North West Equality and Diversity Group
A presentation to the North West Equality and Diversity group led to invitations to work with four member organizations of the group including Risley Prison, Lesbian and Gay Foundation of Manchester , and a Trust Fund in Dewsbury.
Peter Lindley
A new volunteer, Peter Lindley, started working with WRC for one day a week,
White Ribbon Conference
The inaugural White Ribbon Conference concentrating on work with young men was held at the Amnesty Human Rights Centre and was attended by well over 50 delegates. A full conference report will be produced in the near future. The event was very well circulated and marked an important development for White Ribbon Campaign UK

Chris Green attended his second meeting of the Mens Coalition Steering group
Nottingham Values Conference
We were invited to have a stand at the Nottingham Values Conference attended by over 2,000 social workers and students.
Sky News Second Life Conference
We took part in a lively live meeting within Second Life organized by Sky News on Exploitation and Pornography, particularly focused on children.
Trustees Meeting
The March Trustees meeting heard a report on progress from Chris Green , and had a tour of the Birchcliffe Centre into which we will be moving in April.
